ISCC PLUS

is a voluntary and globally recognized sustainability certification system for biobased materials like chemicals, plastics, food and feed products, designed to validate sustainability characteristics of alternative feedstocks including agricultural and forestry biomass, biogenic wastes and residues, circular materials, and renewables. As a no-deforestation standard with a strong commitment to protecting forests, high-carbon stock lands and biodiversity, it strives for a world where biomass and other raw materials are produced in an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable manner. ISCC PLUS certification provides credibility to commercial and individual consumers, the public and governmental institutions, that clearly defined sustainability standards are fulfilled including traceability throughout the entire supply chain. Furthermore, ISCC PLUS certification enables users to demonstrate their commitment to bioeconomy and circular economy by using third-party verified sustainability claims. FSC™

stands for Forest Stewardship Council™ which is a globally recognized certification system which ensures that forests are responsibly managed according to highest sustainability standards. FSC™ is an international non-governmental organisation founded in 1993, whose task is to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests. The Council has defined ten general principles of forest management. The actual certification standards are drawn up in accordance with the FSC™ principles in a national cooperation process. Fulfilling the FSC™ standard requires independent third-party verification. For more information, see www.fsc.org.

FSC™ is a certification system that provides internationally-recognized standard-setting, trademark assurance and accreditation services to companies, organizations, and communities interested in responsible forestry. Products with FSC™ label are fully traceable from forests to the point of sale. The FSC™ label provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption of forest products, enabling consumers and businesses to make purchasing decisions that benefit people and the environment as well as providing ongoing business value.

PEFC

stands for Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes which is an umbrella organization for the mutual recognition of national or regional forest certification schemes, which meet internationally recognized requirements for sustainable forest management. PEFC is by area the world’s largest forest certification system. It includes forest certification, Chain of Custody, and product labelling. Fulfilling the PEFC standard requires independent third-party verification. PEFC members are national or regional forest certification schemes based on inter-governmental processes for sustainable forest management around the world. In Europe these principles were agreed at a conference of European forest ministers. For more information, see www.pefc.org.
